How to Reach Kathmandu:
By Air: The most convenient way to reach Kathmandu is by flight from India. Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) is just 6 km from the city center. Regular direct flights operate from major Indian cities like Delhi and Kolkata, with an average flight time of around 1.5 hours.
By Rail: There is one direct train from India to Nepal, running from Jainagar (Bihar) to Janakpur, followed by a road journey to Kathmandu. Alternatively, you can take a train to Gorakhpur or Raxaul, which are well-connected to other Indian cities, and then continue to Kathmandu by cab or bus.
By Road: Nepal shares six border crossings with India, making road travel both economical and scenic. From Delhi or Varanasi, the most convenient entry is Sunauli, near Bhairahawa, with daily air-conditioned buses and private car options available. Other popular crossings include Raxaul (accessible from Patna) and Panitanki (accessible from West Bengal).
